The University of Kansas has announced the ambitious Gateway Project around David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. The project includes an upscale Marriott hotel, retail and restaurant spaces, student apartments, and a 20,000-square-foot outdoor plaza, designed to create a dynamic year-round destination. KU plans to fund the project through $85M in public incentives, $100M from donors, and $125M from private investments. Expected to boost local tourism by $100M annually, the project also features a parking garage and revamped stadium amenities. Construction could begin in late 2025, pending key public approvals.
