The City of Lawrence has approved a $94.6 million incentive package to support Phase Two of the University of Kansas’ Gateway project—an initiative that includes a hotel, student housing, parking, and commercial space adjacent to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
Sunflower Development Group is a key player in this historic public-private partnership, helping shape the development of the hotel and retail components that will anchor the project’s mixed-use district. The second phase includes plans for a 162-room hotel connected to the conference center, 443 student housing beds, over 43,000 square feet of retail, restaurant, and office space, and approximately 1,000 parking spaces. The Gateway project is expected to serve as a long-term economic catalyst for the City of Lawrence, with city leaders emphasizing the project’s potential to enhance KU’s role in the community and expand its regional impact.
