Sunflower Partners on Major Mixed-Use Gateway District Project at University of Kansas

Sunflower Development Group has joined the University of Kansas and Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate to begin construction on the Gateway District, a transformative mixed-use development next to David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.

Located at the heart of campus in Lawrence, the Gateway District will feature 443 student housing beds, a 162-room hotel with condominiums, 43,000 square feet of retail, dining and office space, new parking, and a 20,000-square-foot outdoor plaza. The project is designed to blend academics, athletics, and community into a vibrant year-round destination that supports student success and regional vitality. Sunflower’s role as a private-sector development partner continues its legacy of shaping spaces that serve both institutions and the greater community.
