We are excited to announce plans for a new mixed-use development in the heart of Midtown, Kansas City.
This $45 million development will be located on the site of the former Uptown Shoppes, a long-struggling retail area adjacent to the historic Uptown Theater. After years of failing to meet expectations, it was clear to the city that the strip mall no longer aligned with what modern Kansas City residents expected from the area.
When we first evaluated the site, located at the corner of Broadway and Valentine, our development team was extremely excited. It’s located in the Midtown corridor, which we believe has great long-term potential to become one of Kansas City’s most walkable, livable areas.
The first phase for the project will create a seven-story, upscale residential building consisting of 200+ apartments. We intend to offer studios, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, all at market price. The community will also house several high-end amenities for our residents, such as a dog park, fitness center, and clubhouse. Our goal is to create an inviting environment where residents may live, work and play—all in one place.
In the future, we are exploring the potential to add a boutique hotel on the property and further improve this area’s connection to the downtown community. Look forward to Uptown Lofts opening for residents in the summer of 2021.
