Kansas City had a record-breaking tourism year in 2023, with 13 million overnight visitors contributing nearly $7 billion in spending and generating $6.7 billion in economic impact. The Ambassador Hotel on Grand Street benefited from this surge, welcoming many visitors and enhancing its economic performance.
The Ambassador Hotel on Grand Street stands out in this resurgence, with General Manager Thomas Turner referring to 2023 as a renaissance year. The hotel saw an impressive revenue increase of $800,000 compared to 2022, with food and beverage sales rising by an additional $300,000. The hotel, located near the T-Mobile Center, benefited from local events, including the Chiefs Super Bowl parade.
The Ambassador has expanded its team, hiring at least 20 new employees, or “curators,” to enhance guest experiences, while also contributing to Kansas City’s vibrant jazz scene, attracting visitors to see performers like Lonnie McFadden. With events such as the World Cup in 2026 on the horizon, the city is poised for even greater growth in the coming years.
