Sunflower Development Group (SDG) is excited to make an over $6 million investment in the City of Tonganoxie, Kansas on our latest workforce housing project. SDG received its first 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Award in the State of Kansas and will begin construction on the new 32-unit mixed income project in Tonganoxie, Kansas.
SDG partnered with another accomplished LIHTC developer and general contractor in Prairie Fire Development and Prairie Fire Construction with the Odiomo Architectural firm providing architectural design and Affordable Housing Partners acting as the tax credit investor.
The project called “Schoolyard Townhomes” is located on a former elementary school site which sits adjacent to the newly planned Tonganoxie Public Library in downtown Tonganoxie filling an important need for workforce housing. Schoolyard Townhomes will feature 27 two-bedroom units with rents ranging from $350 for workforce housing units up $995 for market rate units. It will also include 5 three-bedroom units with rent ranging from $575-$1,100.
