Sunflower Development Group (SDG) was excited to make >$6 million investment in the City of Tonganoxie, Kansas. SDG received a 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Award in the State of Kansas and completed construction on a new 32-unit mixed income project in Tonganoxie, Kansas in the Spring of 2021.
SDG partnered with another accomplished LIHTC developer and general contractor in Prairie Fire Development and Prairie Fire Construction with Odimo Architectural firm providing architectural design and Affordable Housing Partners acting as the tax credit investor.
Schoolyard Townhomes is located on a former elementary school site which sits adjacent to the new Tonganoxie Public Library filling an important need for workforce housing. Schoolyard Townhomes features 27 two-bedroom units with rents ranging from $350 for workforce housing units up to $995 for market rate units. It also includes 5 three-bedroom units with rent ranging from $575-$1,100.
