The Grand is a 21-story mid-century modern tower located one block outside the city’s vibrant Power and Light District. With its central location and timeless style, the building was a perfect fit for an apartment complex appealing to young residents who expect to live, work and play all in one district.
Before we could develop the building with our partners at Van Trust Real Estate, we worked with the National Parks Service to designate Traders on Grand as a historic building. Originally the Kansas City headquarters for Traders National Bank, the building had fallen into disrepair and was half-vacant by the time we purchased it in 2016.
Now designated a Class A+ mixed-use property, Traders on Grand combines 11,000 square feet of commercial and retail space along with 202 multi-family apartment units. Each unit features high-end finishes, open floor plans and access to luxury amenities, such as a rooftop pool, elevated dog park and more.
The project was funded through a variety of federal and state incentives, many of which were Historic Tax Credits. Opening in 2018, Traders on Grand promises to be an exciting, profitable addition to the downtown Kansas City community.
