We’re excited to announce that The Grand in Kansas City has received a 2019 Capstone Award from the Kansas City Business Journal. The Capstone Awards are held every year to recognize the most transformational real estate projects in the Kansas City region.
The Grand was recognized in the Adaptive Reuse category, which highlights those projects that creatively repurposed a space. In our case, The Grand is a reimagining of the former Traders on Grand building. This 57-year-old commercial building required substantial work in order to bring it up to modern code and allow it to house 201 luxury apartment units.
One of our project partner’s, Block Real Estate Services, was instrumental in rehabilitating the building for modern use. Commercial buildings have much different power requirements than residential buildings, and the Block Real Estate Services team helped plan a building that now delivers reliable power whenever tenants may need it.
The Kansas City Business Journal also highlights many of the unique amenities at The Grand. Two of the building’s former banking drive-thru lanes have been retrofitted with modern ATMs and a coffee shop is planned for the remaining one. On top of the drive-thru is our elevated dog park, which lets tenants take their pups for a nice day out without ever leaving the building.
We are so thankful to receive this prestigious award and look forward to continuing our contribution to the growth and excitement around Kansas City.
